Dress Code

We strive to allow students an opportunity for choice within the dress code. However, student dress should not distract from the learning environment. Dress and grooming must be modest and decent. Apparel or appearance must not draw attention to an individual.  In matters of opinion, the professional judgement of teachers and administrators will prevail. Students out of dress code will be subject to the disciplinary consequences outline in the HCDE Code of Acceptable Behavior.

Administration makes the final decision on dress code questions/issues.

Writing and pictures must be appropriate (must not depict drug, alcohol, tobacco, sex, no profanity, political content, or gangs).

Size appropriate (no undersized shirts, crop tops).

Must be modest (no sheer tops, no cleavage or bare midriff exposed).

Pants and Shorts

Shorts may be worn, have a hem (no cutoffs), and must come to the fingertips.

No sagging (pants must be worn at waist, no underclothing may show).

If outerwear is removed what is underneath must meet dress code.

Blankets may not be worn as outerwear and must be placed in a bookbag when in the buildings.
